After the expansion draft is over. When is the deadline for the expansion teams to announce its keepers? or does drafting 5 players mean they will keep all 5 and if they dontwanna keep all 5 they better not draft 5?
whats the ruling on this?
thanks GARE

It is my undertanding that the players draft in the expansion draft are our keepers. If you only want one player, better just draft one player, two keepers draft two players etc. etc. We are bound by the same GUR rules as the rest of the league.

These players being selected right now are there keeper players. You can stop drafting at any round. And you can still drop players all the way until draft time on August 15th, you just can't add anymore players.

Thanks for the answer. So if you draft 5 guys and 2 weeks later want to cut down to 3 you cant do it?
right on that is the fair ruling.

ChickN:
Your question raises an interesting point, but I don't think it is fair for the expansion teams to have an expansion draft based on the player pool available in the regular draft and then after the expansion draft the regular player pool changes.
Just my 2 cents.
By the way, I thought you would have had some draft analysis at this point. Hindsight is 20/20 and if I had known Peyton was going to be selected in the top three, I never would have made the trade in picks. But as it stands, I actually obtained a RB that I thought I had no chance at, even moving to #3.

I dont want to get into the ITS NOT FAIR game, simply cuz looking at the BEARs top 3 guys - i would have to say they are top3 in the league of any QB RB WR combo and as an expansion team. Thats insane.
As for analysis, the Peyton Pick was a horrible one at the #1 spot, I could see Picking Peyton up at the #3 or #4 spot, but at #1 you have to wait 6 more picks before your next selection and by then your RB choices DIE.
I gave everyone advice in one of my previous posts. Its a supply and demand game. Right now if you look at the starting rbs avail in the regular draft - they are EXTINCT. (Barlow + Taylor are the only ones left - have no idea what will happen with wizards) So you want to be able to control some of those HIGH DEMAND spots.
WRs are a dime a dozen (after the top 12) TEs are worthless after the top 3.
I would probably just get my 3 rbs and a decent WR and call it a draft.
but at any rate goodluck.
When you made the trade, I would have made the same trade, but Bears turned out the big winner of round one due to the Peyton Pick.
Not much analysis can be done until the 2nd round is complete, so dont worry it will come.

I am not getting into the NOT FAIR GAME, I was just saying it would be nice not to have the player pool that we go into the draft with today change in two weeks. We make selections today based on what we think we can obtain in the regular draft later given our draft order.
As for analysis, I am looking forward to it. The Peyton selection definitely altered the draft somewhat.

Moot point---
Commish answered the question. In any event, the fact that other teams can only DROP players actually makes the player pool deeper, so no big deal.
