'06 Rule Suggestion
Activate Injured Reserve
Great Idea. Why was this never used?
For any team to lose a player to a season ending injury is rough. Especially if it were a high profile type. i.e. Javon Walker. The owner should be compensated with and Injured Reserve Waiver Pick-up.
I have no problem with this idea.

I am all for a 1-2 player Injured Reserve (although this has the same practical effect of adding 1-2 reserve spots which has been a topic of some discussion).

The amount of players we are allowed on our rosters right now allows room to house injured players. I would like to reduce our rosters right now as it is....so I wouldn't be in favor of this.

Injured Reserve should only be meant for players that suffer serious injuries. Players that actually are put on injured reserve.
ie Javon Walker '05, Deuce Mcallister
ie Steve Smith '04
Owners with players like Bulger, Dillon, Holt, and Bruce. Need to be creative with their adds/drops/trades.

Understood.. I deal with IR spots in other leagues...that isn't my point. With the amount of roster spots we have right now, we have enough spots to hold someone on injured reserved without it being a specific spot. So, if the amount of roster spots aren't reduced, then we shouldn't impliment a IR system....we have enough spots to handle IR as we have ...IE Javon Walker, etc.

Ok, So at the moment. We are going to have 16 roster spots and 2 IR .
The IR is only goin to be used for players put on IR correct?

Quote: Gerald
"Injured Reserved: You are allowed two IR spots during the season. You may not use the IR during the offseason. Rules for putting a player on IR: The player must first be placed on IR by there NFL team. Then after you place that player on your IR, he must stay there for the rest of the season. A player on IR cannot be released or traded."
I don't like the glowing part. Glwoing is not working. Last two sentences.
First, IR should not equal out the entire season. Some players are put on IR for 6 weeks. I am not completely familiar with this. So I will research abit then comment some more.
Secondly, Prohibiting IR players from being traded sounds strange to me. It gives the player absolutely zero value. Javon Walker or Deuce Mcallister should be tradable.
As a matter of fact, i have Deuce in two other keeper leagues and almost traded him away for a playoff run. Deuvce has great keeper value and could have nabbed me a player with decent/great present value. Chris Brown(who is crazy hot btw). or something like that. I was considering taking lesser value in order to solidify my current team.
just another example of strategy.
