Just thought i would give my 2cents on everyone's protected roster on a week by week basis. Ill start week one with our commish - SHORTBUS KIDS.
Protected 5:
Chad Johnson 3
Marcel Shipp 6
Andre Johnson 8
Carson Palmer 12
Rudi Johnson 12
The Shortbus Kids are starting a youth movement and different philosophy heading into this year's draft. They traded away Ricky Williams for Rudi Johnson and T.O and then shipped T.O for Chad Johnson and a pick.
The key to the KIDS this year will be their enormous depth. THey are accumulating high picks and extra picks, but the question remains - who will be available in rounds 1-2 and did the KIDS sacrifice too much?
The 2 rbs are young and unproven - Shipp has recently been demoted by coach Dennis Green (although may believe this is simply a coach trying to light a fire under Shipp) and Bengals invested a first round pick on Chris Perry and DID NOT sign Rudi Huxtible to a long term contract? hmm not the best endorsement for a starting RB.
at the WR spot, Chad Johnson is one of the best in the biz but many experts are predicting a drop off in numbers due to the growing pains of Carson Palmer. Andre Johnson proved he is a big play guy with David Carr and will be a great cog in the offense for years to come for the KIDS, however, beware of that cursed SOPHMORE SEASON when defenses actually start to double team the poor guy for the first time in his NFL career.
at QB - the KIDS have protected Carson Palmer - this guy is a leader and has a very very bright future ahead but all experts in the NHFFL agree that one of the KIDS high picks will be spent on a qb this year - quite possibly Steve Air McNair. SO we expect Carson to be riding the pine and holding the clipboard for one more season.
Draft Outlook - The KIDS will have 2 high picks this year. He can go QB-TE or he can jump on the highly touted Rookie WRs this year. Either way the draft will be great for the KIDS.
The real question is - will RUDI and MARCEL and (insert 2 other marginal RBs here) be enough to bring a championship to the KIDS? or will it be 1 step forward for their future and 2 steps back for 2004.
Only time will tell.
